McCall, ID

McCall is a thriving mountain town on the shores of one of the most picturesque lakes in North America. Payette Lake is a mile high at 5000ft above sea level and is surrounded by pine covered mountains. McCall is named after Thomas McCall the self-proclaimed postmaster and founder in the early 1890's.

Early industry was lumber and mining, both of which still exist today but the tourism industry has grown significantly in the past 30 years. McCall is often referred to as a "little Lake Tahoe".

McCall hosts a myriad of events throughout the year including 4th of July fireworks over Payette Lake and the McCall Winter Carnival.

Summertime recreation activities include watersports on Payette Lake , hiking, mountain biking and golf at one of McCall's three courses.

Winter recreation activities include skiing at Brundage Mountain or Idaho's oldest public ski area "the Little Ski Hill" . Nordic skiing and snowshoeing are available at multiple trailheads around the area including bear basin and Ponderosa Sate Park.

Love to snowmobile? There are hundreds of miles of trails and thousands of acres of terrain that accommodate all levels of riders.

From its rough and tumble past as a logging and mining community McCall has evolved into a destination resort town.
